ChrisTina Maestas Simek, a death doula and certified life cycle celebrant, is petitioning the County Planning Commission for a conditional use permit to host small, intimate ceremonies on her land in Cañada de los Alamos. Her vision is to create a quiet and respectful space for rites of passage, including celebrations of life.
Not everyone supports her vision. A few neighbors have voiced concerns and opposition at recent hearings. Today, ChrisTina returns before the Santa Fe County Planning Commission.
