The Only Film Hollywood Ever Banned is New Mexican and More Relevant Than Ever
Teatro Paraguas, a Santa Fe arts and theater organization, is hosting a free screening of "Salt of the Earth," the only film ever banned by Hollywood. This film based on the true story of the 1951 Empire Zinc Miners Strike near Silver City, NM, and the women who carried the strike when the men were barred. The screening is also to promote the upcoming stage premiere of "Esperanza," written by Carlos Morton and directed by Paola Vengoechea and Elsa López. @j.alexthetechnologist sat down with theater director Argos MacCallum to talk about the film, the play, and what makes this all so relevant to today.
