‘They’re dangerous; we can help each other’: A surge of police killings shakes Albuquerque

Organizers and families held a protest march and memorial for victims of police violence this month in Albuquerque. Millions for Prisoners New Mexico, Southwest Solidarity Network and Youth United for Climate Crisis Action say the Albuquerque Police Department has shot more than 156 people since 2010, including 95 fatally. These abolitionist organizers see today’s police and prisons as an extension of the systems of slavery and colonialism that helped establish the United States. 505OMATIC's Ben Montoya and Austin Fisher spoke with some of them.
