Grad workers protest against UNM admin delays for dental and vision benefits

United Grad Workers at UNM (@unmgradworkers) tried to deliver a petition to UNM administrators on Thursday demanding guarantees for dental and vision coverage. Organizers told 505OMATIC that the administration had previously agreed to starting a request for proposal process for finding appropriate coverage options before bargaining with the unit in Spring 2027. But currently they haven't begun the RFP process that usually takes at least six months. Tensions were high on campus when about a hundred graduate workers were denied entry to deliver their petition and marched around Scholes Hall.
